Chamber unveils GO ChamberBook social networking website for members

Members of the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce now have their own social networking website to promote their business and make online connections. The Chamber unveiled GO ChamberBook last week at its Rooster Booster Breakfast.

“The Chamber has joined the social media movement in a major way with GO ChamberBook,” says Chamber President Jody Wassmer. “This is a Facebook-like way for businesses to communicate with each other, and we are probably one of less than 25 chambers of commerce nationwide that have their own social media website.”

The site allows Chamber members to post their own photos, videos and write about their business using the “News Share” feature. They can request others become their “friends,” create and/or join a group and view photos and videos from Chamber events and activities. The site also includes a video business tip that is updated every day courtesy of the PBS Small Business School.

Anyone can view GO ChamberBook by visiting the Chamber’s website at www.owensboro.com/chamber and clicking the GO ChamberBook link. Only Chamber members can join the site and participate by joining and connecting with others.

The Chamber will present a Lunch/Learn program about social networking next Tuesday, October 13th to members from noon to 1 p.m. at the Commerce Center. Using GO ChamberBook, Facebook and Twitter will be covered.

“Many people and businesses are using online tools to promote themselves, their products and services,” adds Wassmer. “GO ChamberBook is an easy-to-use way to use social media in a fun and productive way.”
